TONIGHT: Gramatik, Michal Menert, Supervision, & wiZard at the Green Elephant
Dallas promoters Banjos to Beats have done it again, and this time they are bringing some of our all time fave electronic producers to The Green Elephant TONIGHT, August 28th. In culmination of this weekend’s Identity Festival going on at Gexa Energy Pavillion, Gramatik, Michal Menert, and SuperVision will be dropping beats for the official Pretty Light’s Music after party going on from 11pm-4am.
Gramatik just signed to Pretty Light’s Music this year and released Beatz & Pieces Vol. 1 on July 12th to amazing reviews. A calmer side of the Pretty Light’s catalogue, this album is less mainstream electronic, and more funky goodness. Incorporating classic boom bap hip-hop beats with live instrumentation, this album is a culmination of trip hop/electronic/funk/jazz/soul and everything in between (seriously, listen to the track “This Drink Is Called Rakija“).
Michal Menert, co-producer of Pretty Light’s debut album “Taking Up Your Precious Time”, is also hitting the stage at the Green Elephant. Menert was the first artist to release an album on Pretty Lights Records, and after giving Menert a listen, it’s easy to see his stylistic influence on the record label. Merging Eastern and Western influences with compelling samples and lo tempo beats, his sound is like nothing and everything you have ever heard before.
Both of these artists rank at the top of our hypothetical electronic music chart, and have been personal favorites ever since their music penetrated our ears to the point of multiple ear-gasms. Yeah, we said it. dfDubReport is also getting the rare opportunity to sit down one on one with Gramatik and talk about his new album, joining Pretty Lights Music, and a whole bunch of other stuff!! So stay tuned!
Don’t wait to buy your tickets for tonight, tickets have already sold like crazy and we wouldn’t want y’all missing out on the funk. Plus, one of our favorite local dj’s w i Z a r d just got added to the line-up so get there early! The show is all ages, and will take place both inside and outside at the Green Elephant. See y’all there!
