So the much anticipated new Beastie Boys album Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2 dropped a week ago, giving me a good amount of time to become acquainted with the Boys’ eighth studio album.
Let me just begin by saying–the Beastie Boys are back. Not just in the sense that it’s been seven years since we’ve heard a “proper” album from them (2007′s The Mix-Up was all instrumental), but with the release of Hot Sauce Committee Part 2, they’re back back.

Noah Lennox, better known as Panda Bear and one-fourth of Animal Collective, is a musical medium. Many of the distinctive qualities found in his music relate to the both the physics of sound and emotion. Imagine a booming chorus racing through your eardrums at a speed of 343.2 metres per second until it reaches your brain and causes an explosion of pleasure, curiosity, and a strong infiltration of other feelings. It all depends on how your brain interprets it.

Austin, Texas native Govinda drops this album just in time to give the already raucous crowds a little taste before he goes out on a couple guest appearances outside his home base. He’ll be jamming through Dallas for Manifestation Celebration in May, which makes this album even more of a must-have.
